Tomb Raider: Underworld

Laura Croft is back people and looking sexier than ever! [Kidding] to be perfectly honest, I thought the Tomb Raider franchise was done for. But this, this game could bring the franchise back to life.
The overall story is neat. Not to complicated to follow, and not to simple it puts you to sleep. As any other Tomb Raider plot, [All that I can remember], Laura is off in her father’s footsteps, 1) to find the truth about her parent’s death. 2) To pursue some quest that one of her parent’s started but never finished. This story is nice, the quest has to do something with Thor. It also has some nice cut scenes to help the story develop.
Overall gameplay is smooth & easy. The button mapping is not hard at all. Can’t recall if the button configuration si customizable. [moving right along] The gameplay is nice for a 3rd person adventure/shooter game with a free camera game that it is. I really didn’t notice any major issues. There are more than enough health packs, you have unlimited ammo with your defaulted dual pistols. Now if pistols aren’t your ‘cup of tea’; you have the option of using a shotgun, assault rifle, dual smgs, a tranquilizer gun, [for those PETA members] and a spear gun [for those underwater adventures] *All weapons stated have limited ammo*

Visually the game is stunning. I’m not referring to the cut scenes. The actual game play visual is very good. The lighting is perfect. Everything reacts in the lighting as it would if it were real. You can even see the dirt build up on Laura as you play through the jungle or cave maps. You can even see the droplets of water on her clothes when she comes in contact with water. The cut scenes are stunning as well. I mean it’s not anything short of spectacular for a next-gen game. Now, as for a Tomb Raider game, the cut scene are vivid.

Overall I give Tomb Raider: Underworld for the Xbox 360 a side-ways thumb. Reason, game is short. I want to say 6 hours of solid game play. I say that having played the game on Normal and with no walk through guide. Beside the stunning graphics and the interesting story, there is no real reason to purchase this game. It’s more of a rental or a borrow. Hopefully the franchise will work on the next series [if there is one].
Until the next review
